Senior Lab Engineer II, Department of Architecture
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Supervise and participate in the operations and maintenance of laser cutter machines, 3D printers, and wide format LaserJet and design jet plotter
  • Provide technical support in hardware and software for all assigned labs, faculty, staff, and students
  • Supervise the assigned labs in the Department of Architecture
  • Report a daily attendance status for his subordinates/himself
  • Ensure assigned labs’ readiness for any technical task within its predetermined mission
  • Supervise the operations and maintenance of all assigned labs’ assets (machines, equipment, software and infrastructure)
  • Maintain an updated inventory of all lab items (equipment, devices, tools, consumables, etc...)
  • Prepare the equipment operational guide for users
  • Support the faculty/teaching assistant members in the required courses
  • Assist the faculty members in the development of lab manuals and procedures
  • Assist in research, grants and engineering servicestake research assignments and work on them
  • Facilitate the projects/research endeavors of the undergraduate/graduate students, in their thesis as well as researchers and professors in their research activities/grants and engineering services
  • Keep awareness and report of new/required developments in his supervised equipment/machines
  • Keep continuous training of his subordinates making sure they all are competent using all the labs’ assets
  • Carry out various manual tasks using manual tools
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment within the assigned labs and its premises in coordination with AUC's health and safety department
  • Apply the safety regulations/precautions, safety work practices and immediately report any safety violation incident/condition or potential hazards
  • Monitor first aid kits, fire-fighting equipment and safety gear in coordination with AUC's clinic and health and safety department
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirement:
  • BSc. in electronics, computer engineering, computer science or related field
Experience:
  • At least five years of experience with prior experience of two years in a related field
Skills:
  • Good background about the latest technologies like (robotics, embedded systems, programming, 3D design, IoT, electronics circuits, Arduino and Raspberry Pi) (preferable)
  • Capable of communicating in English fluently orally and in writing
  • Time management and planning skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good written and spoken Arabic
  • Good troubleshooting and fault isolation skills
  • Equipment handling and maintenance hands-on
  • Can perform under pressure and within a team

HR Faculty Operations Support, Office of Human Resources (Casual Position)
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of faculty’s personnel files by collecting all hiring documents, ensuring all required forms are correctly filled
  • Support in the travel arrangement for the new and departed faculty members with all related issues and arrangements (Create trip numbers on SAP system, pickup to/from the airport, meet and assist service, prepare travel reports etc.)
  • Help in preparing adjunct faculty reports each semester as requested, ensure receiving the required documents, check and verify adjunct faculty data
  • Follow up on the national social insurance and secondment documents process completion for faculty, with issuing the required documents and memos
  • Assist in the operations of the benefits programs to the full-time faculty, including but not limited to; the pension plans, medical coverage, life insurance coverage and scholarships that may be extended to dependents
  • Handles for the issuance of the HR letters for faculty members as requested in a timely manner
  • Follow-up on all general payment requests issued by HR for faculty with the controller’s office
  • Trace and follow up on the termination process and clearance form
  • Generate monthly additional payment reports and verifies SAP entries
  • Maintain accurate and update faculty members’ records on the SAP system
  • Assist in generating all required reports and support in providing relevant analysis on demand
  • Maintain and update an efficient filing system for all faculty records with an accurate document database
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating electronic copy of personnel records
  • Handles general administrative tasks and assist in resolving any administrative problems
  • Provide assistance on general HR queries and follow up actions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirement(s):  
  • Bachelor degree in business administration or any related field
  • HR diploma is an asset
Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on administrative support experience.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize while handling the pressure
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic, both written and spoken
  • Computer literate, including demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and SAP is an asset
